24 | Reevaluation

 

So another term comes to a close. Only six months remain between me and graduation. Deep breath...



Ready,              Set,               Hit it.

Okay, now that that's out of my system... I've learned so much in the last three months.  My view on career and school has changed incredibly. I entered this term with a giant list of goals. It was over three pages long. I completed maybe a dozen of them. But I feel accomplished. Why? Because I grew and expanded my scope of the world and where my path fits into it. I completed a fraction of what I wrote down as goals. But I completed so much more that I never anticipated, and can't imagine undoing. 

Goal setting is important and helpful to me regardless. A big break from school like this upcoming winter has potential for so much. Let's look at my biggest priorities and shape my goals around them (and let's make my goals realistic this time). I value growth. I value preparation. I value the moment at hand. I value balance.

So here's what I will accomplish over winter break after an incredible term and looking forward to another one:

Don't Give Up | Because I'm going to approach dozens of professionals and opportunities, and most of them will dead-end. I must hold my self trust in place. Resilience is the key to success.

Aquaint Self With Creative Suite | Because I'm sick of only knowing rudimentary Photoshop. I may want to be an account manager, but that doesn't mean I can't or shouldn't learn creative tools.

Read These Books

-The Brand Gap, Marty Neumeier | Because I want to bridge the gap between clients and their brands. The more I understand, the better I can assist others to get there.

-No Logo, Naomi Klein | Because one cannot truly stand for something without understanding why others stand against it. The ad game isn't perfect. If there are industry aspects I can effect positive change on in my career, I will dedicate myself to them.

-Something "Unreleated" To Advertising | Because advertising isn't separate from the world. It is a reflection of the world.

Prepare AKPsi Winter Term | Because so much can be accomplished in the winter if the right preparations are made ahead of time. If I can knock my administrative tasks off the list over break, I can devote more energy during the term to strategic changes the group needs.

Pick Up My Trumpet Again | Because I miss creating music. Music is my other, but it's also the soundtrack to my soul. Life is too silent when I just listen. I need to live music again.
